Our 5 days desert tour from Marrakech start around 08:30 am and travel over the stunning High Atlas mountains through Tizi n’Tichka (alt 2260 m). We will stop to enjoy impressive landscapes and visit the Argan oil cooperative. After lunch at a local restaurant we will have the afternoon to visit UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Ben Haddou. We will depart to Ouarzazate for dinner and accommodation in a traditional hotel.
After breakfast, we will spend the morning to see the film studios where many films are taxed as: The Wars, The Mummy, Gladiator …Later we will departure to the Kasbah of Taourirt, a World Heritage Site, full of towers and walls. Inside the Islamic and Jewish religion are mixed. We will continue down the road of Thousand Kasbash, through the great palm Skoura, accompanied by hundreds of Kasbash that we will see along the way. Let’s enter the Dades Valley and we will admire the hundreds of kasbash dotted along the route. We will continue on river road entering the narrow valley. We will make a stop to enjoy it. Here you will have dinner and spend the second night of our 5 days desert tour from Marrakech.
After breakfast in the hotel, drive back through the valley to see the amazing rock formation “the monkey toes”, and the still-standing 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Leaving the Dades valley towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley you’ll see the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Arriving at the Gorge you’ll walk under the 300m high red cliff, where many rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Continuing our trip to Erfoud and Rissani where we’ll have lunch and afterwards, we’ll leave for the village of Merzouga ,You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check into your accommodation
After breakfast in the hotel you’ll start your explorative journey of the area, with 4×4 Guide the explain about life in the Sahara visiting the ‘village of the blacks’, originally slaves from Sudan to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, including flamingos. You may also like to visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities. On the afternoon you will mount your camel, guided by an experienced Camel man, to explore inside the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you’ll spend your first night under the stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent. Dinner will be served in the tent where you will spend the night. Dinner Bed and Breakfast.
After the camel back, a good shower and a good breakfast we will go to Fez. We will cross Errachidia and then we will go to the Ziz Valley, we will see what the river has built for thousands of years eroded the rock and leading to large palms and adobe villages. Later we will go through Ifrane, where is the Cedar Forest, here we can see a lot of monkeys where we can feed them and enjoy the many cedars that brings this forest. Then to Fes at your accommodationtion.
1. Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
You won't need a sleeping bag on our Morocco tours as for the most part you'll be staying in 3-4 star hotels and our desert camp provides all the bedding you need including pillows and blankets. For your own personal comfort, you may wish to bring a sleeping bag liner to use at the desert camp.
2. How long is the camel trek in the Sahara?
We journey there by camel for an authentic Berber experience. The camel trek is about an hour and a half. If you prefer to walk then you can walk alongside our camel caravan but bear in mind that walking in sand can be tiring.
3. Is there another option if I do not want camel riding?
Yes, travellers who are not intrested in camel ride and want to spend night in the desert, we transfer them by 4WD to the desert camp.
4. What is the standard of hotels on your trips?
On our Signature product you'll be staying in a mix of 4 & 3 star modern hotels and traditional Moroccan riads. This gives you a chance to experience the local hospitality and stay in accommodation that reflects the character of Morocco. 5. Is Moroccan food suitable for vegetarians?
Vegetables feature prominently in Moroccan cuisine so vegetarians should have no issues. It's true that Moroccans like their meat but it's always accompanied by a delicious range of vegetables and grains. There's a huge variety of salads to choose from, soups can easily be made vegetarian-friendly on request and the ubiquitous tagine and couscous dishes come in vegetarian options too.
